1. Mass / roof: Describe Bete Giyorgis’s roof outline and the opening around it. How would your view change if the removed rock were still there?

2. Opening / façade: Choose a doorway or window at Amanuel. Write what you see, then separately what you learn from The Met (source 2).

3. Work / removed material: Which traces of earlier life would you investigate in a debris heap? Write one sentence separating the date of Adish Adie’s fill from the date of cutting the rock (source 4).

4. Life / whose knowledge: Whose knowledge would help you understand this place’s life as well as its form? Write a question and identify a real source or relevant custodian’s role; do not invent a conversation.
